Yen’s "Under the Influence" is part of a series of digital drawings that highlight the stories of Asian Americans. She provides us with a little background,

It originated in a time of a lot of anger directed towards Asian-Americans and here in New York City, a rise in hate crimes. I started thinking about growing up in an environment lacking in representation and how I gravitated towards other Asians in media and arts who were doing cool things. The series, and this drawing, is based on pictures from family albums and then extending to Asians and Asian-Americans who have influenced me over the years. There were so few of them that I wanted to include them all, luminaries like Michelle Yeoh, Yo-Yo Ma and Maya Lin really shaped my youth and let me imagine anything was possible.

Submissions were voted on by the board and the winner was announced at the 2024 USA Jigsaw Nationals. *Select National’s volunteers were given the chance to purchase this custom Ravensburger puzzle; however, the custom puzzle is no longer available.

Official Rules:

• Only members can submit entries.

• Deadline is May 1, 2023.

• Must be your original artwork or photography.

• Each member can only submit 3 entries.

• Submit a jpg or png file (minimum 300 dpi). If selected, designs will need editing. The winner will work with Ravensburger to get the necessary design/requirements for a puzzle.
